Special time (and why I should incorporate it in my daily routine)

Many times parents experience problems at home with their children (attention seeking behaviour, stealing sweets from the cupboard, etc).

We live in a rushed era and it isn't always possible to spend a lot of (quality) time with the kids. Technology, work and stress are all causes of parents being tired or sometimes "too busy". But kids crave that one-on-one time with their parents. They need to feel that they are "seen" by their parents and "understood".

So here is an idea:

Add at least 10 minutes of special time a day.

This happens during a time where you are available and able to leave your phone and any other distractions alone for 10 minutes. You give your undivided attention to your child and do whatever they choose to do. Whether it is playing dress-up, kicking a ball or even singing a song.... For 10 minutes your child decides what they need and you just go along.

10 minutes of special time is worth more than 1 hour of sitting next to each other in front of the TV. Add this to your daily routine and see how your child suddenly thrives at home and at school!
