The therapist strives to respect the child's inner world when giving feedback on the progress of therapy.
In the first session a confidentiality contract is set up between the child and therapist.
Should the therapist at any time suspect that the child is being abused or neglected she is obliged by law to report this to a social worker (statutory) or the South African Police Services.
There are only a few boundaries in the room and this is to ensure the client, therapist and toys are always safe.
Children should feel comfortable enough to express themselves (whichever way they feel fit).
Therapy is non-direct, so the therapist rarely address an issue directly with a child if it happened outside the room.
Play can be messy, and children need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to sessions. The therapist takes no responsibility for paint or other play materials on children's clothing or footwear.
